Refilling Ink Cartridges
In this day and age refilling ink cartridges does make an enormous amount of sense. Ideally more and more people should be encouraged to do so to reduce waste and energy used for producing ink cartridges. Reusing empty cartridges is good for the environment in many ways.
While cartridge refill kits are still far from replacing OEM cartridges, there are plenty of those reaping the benefits of refilling ink cartridges. By far the most attractive advantage of refills is that they are incredibly cheap when compared to purchasing new cartridges.
If you’re put off from refilling printer cartridges, don’t be. It’s incredibly easy to do. With your re-fill kit there should be everything that is needed to carry out the job. First of all, it’s important to note that the best time to refill your cartridge is just before it is completely out of ink. It is not the worst thing to happen but it might mean you’ll have to clean out the nozzles from dried up ink.
Wearing your best clothes is probably not advisable in case of any accidents. But you will do fine refilling your cartridge in the sink where you can wash away ink spills easily. An instruction guide will accompany your refill kit. Be sure to follow this accurately for a successful refill.
It really isn’t that complicated however. All you have to do is fill up the plunger with ink and insert this into the cartridge and apply firm and steady pressure until you’ve reached the top. Any excess can simply be wiped off and then you can start using your cartridge.
If you like the idea of being greener and spending a lot less on printing you could opt for a company to do your refilling for you. It’s still a great way to cut printing costs for those that don’t like the DIY approach.
Most ink refill kits contain enough ink to replace the ink in at least two cartridges. Some ink refill producers include DATA PRD, Hitachi and Shachihata kits. If you are unsure of whether to start refilling ink cartridges, my advice is to just give it a go.
They will cost you less than half the price of an OEM cartridge and if you decide it’s not for you, give it to someone else. Considering the time it takes to refill a cartridge, which is all of ten minutes at the most and the cost, there’s no easier way to save tons of cash.
